ADVANCED BUILDING COMPONENTS - MEAD, NEBRASKA

Material Flow Challenge:

Client moving to expansive new manufacturing location with an opportunity to implement higher production, more automated methods to manufacture wall components. His former manufacturing methods were essentially manual, aided by Triad-derived equipment that insured low production rates and high labor investments.

Equipment Solution:

Equipment designs are being developed and integrated in phases, to address issues of creating higher production rates and high labor investment:

Power Framer (interior) - adjustable chain conveyor design that automatically fixtures wall assemblies of various standard sizes, and transports them "down the line" through stationary, automated nailing stations

Smart Crane - automatically stacking station at terminal end of wall building lines to automatically pick up and stack wall panels as required

Subcomponent Nailer - manufacturing component that fixtures wall subassemblies, automatically nails, and then auto-stacks for ease of handling into inventory

Power Framer (exterior) - next phase of equipment development

System Benefit:

Early assessments of equipment performance (first three components listed above are operational in field conditions) have indicated production throughput of 1,500 to 1,800ft/shift is attainable on a consistent basis, with significant reductions in the manpower required to produce components at that level.
